CENTREVILLE — The partnership of business and non-profits aiming to revitalize Centreville has adopted a name and is preparing to hold its first event, a block party on Water Street.
Centreville Alive is the name of the new organization that hopes to make the town a destination. Its inaugural event, dubbed “Flashback to Days Gone By” will take place between 6:30 and 9:00 pm Friday, July 17, on Water Street between Liberty and Commerce.
“It’s going to be a free, family-friendly event,” said organizer Bob Pino, owner of An Optical Galleria. Flashback, the band, will play in the street, classic cars will line the sidewalk, and there will be hula hoop and costume contests, he said. Sugar Magnolia Cafe, An Optical Galleria, Edwards Pharmacy, Delmarva Financial Group, Doc’s Riverside Grille and the Town of Centreville are sponsoring the block party.
